Expose Excellence Youth Program
“Providing a safe environment for youth interaction while promoting positive self-expression and development of life skills and artistic expression”
Created by the Fort Bend County District Attorney, Brian Middleton, Expose Excellence Youth Program provides services and resources to youth ages 10-17 that live in Fort Bend County.
DA Middleton founded Expose Excellence as a way to provide guidance and opportunities to the youth, preventing their entry into the juvenile justice system. From there, it expanded to giving back to students in the Fort Bend County community offering enriching ways for youth self-expression.
e² Youth News blog was created to provide an outlet for students with an interest in journalism and writing.
Youth journalism activities, such as contributing to a blog, offer numerous benefits, including the development of critical thinking and media literacy skills as students learn to analyze information and understand responsible reporting. Creating content for publication also enhances communication skills, sharpens research abilities, and provides a valuable platform for students to express their opinions and share their experiences on topics important to them.
This outlet empowers youth voices, fosters a sense of community engagement within the program and beyond, and can even inspire an interest in future careers in journalism or related fields. By giving students the opportunity to become active participants in sharing their perspectives, EEYP is further investing in their development as informed and engaged citizens.
